A 22 year old Singaporean man has pleaded guilty in a United States court to racketeering conspiracy after orchestrating one of the largest cryptocurrency heists in history. Malone Lam admitted to leading a sophisticated international network that stole approximately 245 million dollars in bitcoin and subsequently laundered the funds. Working with a group of associates they first met on online gaming platforms, Lam coordinated a scheme that involved deceiving victims into revealing confidential information and even conducting physical home break ins to gain access to digital wallets.
The scale of the spending following the theft reads like a script from a luxury lifestyle movie. According to the Department of Justice, Lam and his crew lived an extravagant life, renting high end homes in Miami, Los Angeles, and the Hamptons while employing their own private security detail. They traveled via private jets and amassed a collection of exotic supercars with individual price tags reaching as high as 3.8 million dollars. Their nightlife habits were particularly lavish, with some single visits to clubs costing half a million dollars. In several instances, the group reportedly purchased expensive Hermes Birkin bags only to throw them into crowds during parties.
Known by various aliases including Anne Hathaway and King Greavy, Lam acted as the ringleader who identified targets and assigned roles to his co conspirators across multiple US states and abroad. US Attorney Jeanine Pirro warned that those attempting to build cybercrime empires would eventually be dismantled and held accountable, describing the operation as an invasive network that preyed on victims through calculated deception between late 2023 and mid 2025.
Lam now faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years for his role in the conspiracy. While he has officially entered his guilty plea, District Judge Colleen Kollar Kotelly has not yet scheduled a formal sentencing hearing. Authorities have released images showing Lam partying in Miami with stacks of cash alongside photos of the luxury vehicles seized during the investigation into the sprawling criminal enterprise.
