What a $10,000 Investment Split Between Micron and Sandisk Could Be Worth by the End of 2027

For many investors, watching a stock soar hundreds of percent in a single year usually triggers an instinct to sell before the bubble bursts. That is certainly the case for Micron and SanDisk, which have emerged as some of the most explosive performers of 2026. SanDisk has led the pack as the top performer in the S&P 500 with a staggering gain of over six hundred percent, while Micron follows closely behind with a rise of roughly two hundred seventy percent. Despite these vertical climbs, there is a compelling argument that we are only scratching the surface of their potential due to an insatiable global appetite for memory chips.

The driving force behind this surge is the unprecedented expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Both companies specialize in NAND memory used for long term data storage in solid state drives, but Micron holds an additional edge with its production of high bandwidth memory. This specific type of DRAM is essential for AI accelerator chips and GPUs, making Micron a critical player in the hardware backbone of modern computing. While critics argue that the semiconductor industry is traditionally cyclical and prone to sharp crashes, current evidence suggests that supply cannot keep pace with demand. In fact, Micron recently indicated that market tightness likely won’t ease until after 2027.

While the broader market seems pessimistic about whether this growth can be sustained beyond this year, analysts suggest that investors may be misreading the signs. Even as new production facilities come online to increase capacity, the sheer scale of the AI build out means these companies will likely maintain high utilization rates and premium profit margins for several more years. Because current valuations do not fully price in these extended projections, both stocks appear undervalued relative to their expected future earnings.

If these trajectories hold true through late 2027, a modest initial investment could yield extraordinary results. Based on projected earnings and current price to earnings ratios, calculations suggest that SanDisk could grow by nearly one hundred ninety percent and Micron by over two hundred fifty percent within a year. For someone splitting ten thousand dollars equally between the two today, those positions could potentially swell to over thirty two thousand dollars by the end of 2027. It is a bold projection, but it rests on the belief that we are currently living through the largest wave of computing demand in history.
