RBC Capital has officially entered the fray regarding Xanadu Quantum Technologies, initiating coverage on the Canadian firm with an outperform rating. While the outlook is positive, analysts have attached a speculative risk label to the stock, signaling that while there is significant upside potential, investors should be prepared for high volatility inherent in the quantum computing sector.
The endorsement comes at a challenging time for Xanadu, which has seen its share price tumble by 55 percent since making its market debut in March. The company transitioned to the public market through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company, a route often referred to as a blank check vehicle. These types of deals allow companies to go public more quickly than traditional offerings but frequently result in sharp corrections once the initial hype settles.
Despite the recent slide in valuation, the move by RBC Capital suggests that institutional confidence remains intact regarding the long term viability of Xanadu’s technology. By designating it as an outperform play, analysts are betting that the current dip may provide an attractive entry point for those willing to stomach the risks associated with early stage deep tech ventures.
