Wall Street Strategists Predict a Comeback for Forgotten Stocks

Investors who have weathered a grueling stretch of volatility may finally see light at the end of the tunnel. According to recent analysis from Morgan Stanley, the current market correction that began back in June is entering its final stages. After a period where the S&P 500 remained largely flat and tech giants faced intense scrutiny over artificial intelligence spending, experts suggest that the downward trend is nearly exhausted and a broad recovery is on the horizon.

Chief Investment Officer Mike Wilson notes several encouraging signs that point toward a reversal. Falling Treasury yields and improving market breadth indicate that stability is returning, while the upcoming midterm elections typically remove political uncertainty that weighs on portfolios. Historically, large cap stocks have shown significant gains in the six months following these elections, suggesting a seasonal tailwind could help push the S&P 500 toward a year-end target of 8,000.

While caution still prevails regarding immediate aggressive buying, Morgan Stanley suggests preparing for the bounce by looking away from the usual suspects. Instead of chasing overpriced winners, they recommend focusing on quality cyclical stocks that have fallen out of favor. These are companies boasting strong balance sheets and steady cash flows that generally thrive during economic expansions but have recently suffered steep valuation drops.

The industrial sector stands out as a primary opportunity for those looking to reposition their portfolios. Analysts highlighted specific picks such as Delta Air Lines and Northrop Grumman as having substantial upside potential. For those preferring a less concentrated approach, diversifying through quality-factor ETFs or industrial-focused funds offers a way to capture this expected rotation into undervalued sectors without betting on single companies.
