This shift includes the introduction of Aurora lie-flat suites on Boeing 787 Dreamliners and select 737 Max 10 aircraft, alongside new premium economy sections designed to better compete on lucrative long-haul and cross-country routes.
The transformation extends deeply into the Hawaiian Airlines brand following the recent merger, though executives confirmed the two carriers will remain separate entities. Starting in 2028, Hawaiian’s Airbus A330 fleet will feature all-new first-class suites equipped with sliding doors and the airline’s first-ever premium economy option. These updates come after exhaustive design processes where officials meticulously vetted fabrics to ensure they evoked a tropical atmosphere without becoming visually overwhelming for passengers heading to Asia, Oceania, or the islands.
On the ground, the airline plans to mirror the tiered lounge systems used by industry giants like Delta and United. A sprawling new 41,000 square foot facility at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will offer exclusive spaces specifically for those flying in Aurora suites, while a new lounge in Honolulu is slated for early 2028.
