A young South Florida resident known as a crypto kingpin has admitted his role in a massive international theft operation that siphoned away roughly 245 million dollars in digital currency. Malone Lam, a 22 year old Singaporean citizen living in Miami, entered a guilty plea Wednesday in a Washington D.C. federal court to charges of participating in a RICO conspiracy. Prosecutors describe Lam as the mastermind behind a sophisticated cybercrime network that operated between late 2023 and mid 2025, utilizing everything from online deception and gaming scams to physical home invasions to strip victims of their assets.
Operating under several colorful aliases including King Greavy and Anne Hathaway, Lam reportedly managed a sprawling organization with members stretched across New York, California, Connecticut, and various international locations. According to court documents, he acted as the primary coordinator, identifying targets and assigning specific roles to his accomplices to ensure the seamless movement of stolen funds. The scale of the operation allowed the group to maintain an almost cinematic level of decadence while avoiding detection for nearly two years.
Federal investigators paint a picture of extreme excess funded by the heist, noting that the group spent millions on exotic cars and half a million dollars on luxury watches alone. Their spending habits included renting high end estates in the Hamptons and Los Angeles, chartering private jets, and employing personal security teams. In one particularly egregious example of waste, prosecutors claim the group blew through 500 thousand dollars on nightclub services in just one night.
The spree came to an end when Lam was apprehended at his Miami rental home in September 2025. While Lam has now pleaded guilty, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro emphasized that the investigation remains active as authorities continue to hunt down other participants in the network. A sentencing date has not yet been determined, though Judge Colleen Kollar Kotelly has scheduled a follow up status hearing for December 8, 2026.
